Media Alert: Take Back the Night 2016 WHAT: Take Back the Night is an interactive event that empowers survivors and creates awareness about sexual assault and domestic violence. The event includes an Empowerment March, Survivor Speak-out, Men's Anti-Violence Pledge, Candlelight Vigil, and Live Music. Take Back the Night is organized by the Sexual Violence Task Force of Tampa Bay in collaboration with the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, The Spring of Tampa Bay, & Suncoast Center, Inc. WHEN: Saturday, April 30th from 5pm-10:30pm. A timeline is included below. WHERE: North Straub Park in St. Petersburg (350 Bayshore Drive NE, St. Petersburg, FL) WHY: One in six American women and one in thirty-three American men have experienced an attempted or completed rape in his or her lifetime. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been victims of physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime.
